President U Htin Kyaw
received the Rakhine State Advisory Commission led by former UN
Secretary-General Mr Kofi Annan at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday.
The meeting focused on three main issues: the importance of humanitarian aid for
the two communities in Rakhine State; releasing information with transparency
in quick response to rumours and fabricated news; and the need to promote
understanding and cooperation between the two communities through positive
interaction.
They also discussed matters on promoting prospects for development of the
economy and for conducting vocational training as part of efforts for
development of the socio-economy of the people in Rakhine State.
They also exchanged views on the rights of the peoples in Rakhine State for
citizenship in accordance with the 1982 Citizenship Law and fighting drug
trafficking in the country.
Also present at the meeting were Union Minister for the Office of the State
Counsellor, Minster of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin and officials.
