Shwe Kokko Phase II continues demolishing online scam hubs

THE government is placing particular emphasis on working with neighbouring and regional countries to crack down on online scams and online gambling, which threaten global socioeconomic affairs and national security, intending to eliminate these activities completely and permanently. In the Shwe Kokko area, where online scam and gambling operations were conducted on a large scale, illegal buildings are being systematically and permanently demolished to prevent such activities from resuming in these buildings.

As part of these efforts, one six-storey building among the remaining illegal buildings in Phase II of the Shwe Kokko area, which had been used for online scam and gambling operations and was being demolished using machinery, was demolished yesterday, reaching 70 per cent completion. The demolition of another six-storey building reached 40 per cent completion as of yesterday.

Of the 63 buildings designated for demolition in Phase II of the Shwe Kokko area, four have been demolished through controlled explosions and another four using heavy machinery. The remaining 55 buildings will also be systematically demolished.

The government has been treating the fight against online scams and online gambling as a national duty.
