The Government has prioritized efforts to combat online fraud and online gambling as a national duty, working not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries to conduct effective inspections and crackdowns to prevent such syndicates from gaining a foothold in the country.
As part of
these operations, 635 illegal buildings used for online gambling in the KK Park
area have been divided into three sections, while 77 of the 140 illegal
buildings used for online gambling in the Shwe Kokko area were systematically
demolished during Phase I.
In Phase II,
the remaining 63 buildings will be demolished as follows: 25 by machinery, four
by blasting and 34 floor by floor by workers in residential areas. The
demolition work has been carried out systematically since 6 October.
As the
demolition continues, one five-storey building designated for demolition by
machinery has been demolished, bringing the overall demolition progress to 65
per cent. In addition, one six-storey building was systematically demolished
yesterday.
The
Government has taken the elimination of online gambling and fraud as a national
responsibility and is working in coordination with local forces and relevant
authorities in neighbouring countries to eradicate such activities in Myanmar.
It will continue to demolish the remaining buildings as soon as possible.
