48 Myanmar companies ship over 148,000 tonnes of rice in Aug

 


MYANMAR exported 148,548 tonnes of rice and broken rice in August 2026, and 48 companies handled shipments, ac­cording to data released by the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).

Myanmar shipped 121,058 metric tonnes of highgrade white rice, 4,773 metric tonnes of parboiled rice: 4,846 met­ric tonnes of broken rice, 17,872 metric tonnes of broken rice (B grade). Myanmar’s rice and bro­ken rice exports reached 848,278 metric tonnes in the first-five months of the current 2026-2027 fi­nancial year, generating US$291 million in export revenue.

The Philippines was the top buyer, importing 106,512 tonnes in August. Rice is also exported to China, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the United States, Lithuania, and 11 other countries.

Myanmar’s rice ex­port volume was down by 41,000 tonnes compared to that of the correspond­ing period last year, as rice exports exceeded 190,000 tonnes (worth US$65 million) in August 2025. Nevertheless, cu­mulative exports for the April-August period this financial year are higher than the same period last year, according to MRF figures.
