Deputy Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr Aung Zeya, who is also Chairman of the MSME Development Agency, has urged MSMEs to expand their operations to increase foreign exchange earnings from exports, raise gross domestic product (GDP), boost exports of value-added products and create more employment opportunities for local youth.
The
deputy minister made the remarks while inspecting MSME factories, including
businesses producing One Region One Product (OROP) items, at the Dakkhina Micro
and Medium Industrial Zone yesterday. He inspected the use of raw materials and
production activities at Maple Win Garment Factory, the production of canned food
in accordance with ISO and international quality standards and preparations to
export frozen and dried meat products at Dakkhina Meat Export Factory.
At
New Life Plastic Factory, he also inspected the production of plastic pellets
from waste plastic materials, which are used to manufacture agricultural
water-spraying pipes, pipe fittings and related products. He also observed the
use of a solar power system to meet the factory’s electricity requirements.
The
deputy minister instructed MSME entrepreneurs to share knowledge about the
benefits gained from installing and using solar power systems.
Meanwhile,
Dr Aung Zeya met with MSME entrepreneurs and private industrialists at the
office of the Industrial Supervision and Inspection Department in Nay Pyi Taw
the previous morning.
The
meeting discussed measures to enable factories and workshops operated by MSME
entrepreneurs to run at full capacity, the completion of surveys and solutions
for MSME loan requirements, shortages of raw materials and spare parts, and
difficulties related to business expansion and factory upgrading.
The
deputy minister responded to the entrepreneurs’ questions and coordinated with
relevant authorities to address their needs.
