Union Health Minister receives IFRC Regional Director

 

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win received Mr Alexander James Mathieu, Asia-Pacific Regional Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), at the Ministry of Health yesterday.

They discussed IFRC’s support to the Myanmar Red Cross Society in providing humanitarian assistance, cooperation in disaster preparedness and response training, the Myanmar Red Cross Society’s strategy to provide vocational training for the public as part of earthquake recovery efforts, and preparations for the Society’s hosting of the 23rd South-East Asian Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Leaders’ Meeting in September.

The meeting was also attended by the President of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, the IFRC Country Representative in Myanmar, and officials from the Ministry of Health.
