Alms meals donated at Yangon City Hall to commemorate 79th Martyrs’ Day

ALMS meals were donated to the venerable monks as a commemorative service to the martyrs of national independence at the City Hall of the Yangon City Development Committee yesterday.

Chairman of the Central Committee on Organizing the 79th Martyrs’ Day Ceremony and Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint, Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Htay Aung, the deputy minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture and relevant officials and invitees attended the ceremony.

Shwebo Sayadaw Aggamaha Pandita Bhaddanta Candavamsa Lankara Bhivamsa, Vice-Chair of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, administered the Five Precepts. Members of the Sangha recited Metta Sutta, and the congregation presented offerings and shared merits gained in dedication to General Aung San and martyrs.

After the event, the Union minister and the congregation offered alms meals.
