A Bio Fertilizer Seminar jointly organized by the MNFA-MIED and the Agri Institute of Asia (AIA) was held yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Yangon Region Department of Agriculture. The seminar focused on the practical application of biofertilizers based on laboratory research.
At the event, Yangon Region Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Minister Dr Htoo Maung emphasized that residue-free agricultural products and food safety are essential, noting that wider use of organic and biofertilizers is crucial for producing chemical-free products that meet international standards and help promote agricultural exports.
U Tint Naing, head of the region’s Agriculture Department, discussed the use of organic and biofertilizers for soil development and the benefits of combining chemical fertilizers with organic and biofertilizers as agricultural inputs.
Dr Myint Lwin, patron of MNFA, also briefed on the crucial role of microorganisms in agriculture, microbial content in biofertilizer production and the benefits of cooperation among experts, producers and farmers.
The seminar focused on the role of beneficial microorganisms and bacteria in biofertilizers and on the production and utilization of biofertilizers in accordance with the standards.
