Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, relevant departments are taking effective action in accordance with the law to prevent and suppress illegal trade across the country.
A combined inspection
team under the management of the Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted
inspections on 10 February. The team seized two unregistered motorbikes worth
K11.9 million at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint and illegal gold
materials valued at K1.14 billion from a passenger’s luggage at the Monywa
Airport. The authorities are taking action under the law.
In Magway Region, the
joint on-duty teams conducted the inspections on 9 and 10 February. They
confiscated illegal teak, timbers and related things valued at K12.993 million
in Minbu Township, 10 boats (K460 million) that are used in illegal digging of
pebbles in the river in Thayet and Aunglan Townships, two unregistered
motorbikes worth K400,000 in Aunglan and Ngaphe Townships, a Toyota Dyna
(estimated value of K40 million) carrying illegal fuel oil, diesel and cash
valued at K15.058 million in Kanma Township and two handphones that are used in
gambling and cash valued at K1.678 million in Pakokku Township. The action was
taken under the Forest Law, the Water Resources and Rivers Law, the Export and
Import Law, the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law and the Gambling Law.
Additionally,
inspections by the Customs Department captured industrial materials worth K88.2
million from a container at the Asia World Port and consumer goods worth
K116,800,680 without official documents from the luggage of five passengers at
the Yangon International Airport. The action is underway under the Customs
procedures.
Between 9 and 11
February, a further 26 cases were seized nationwide, with a combined estimated
value of K2.487 billion.
