Belarusian Party Delegation Engages UEC Member over 2025 General Election


UNION Election Commission Member U Aung Saw Win received a delegation led by Ms Volha N Chamadanova, Chairperson of the Belarusian Party Belaya Rus of the Republic of Belarus, yesterday at the Park Royal Hotel in Yangon.

During the meeting, the UEC member explained that the Union Election Commission had successfully conducted Phases I and II of the 2025 multiparty democratic general election in accordance with the law, in a free, fair and transparent manner. He also elaborated on the invitation extended to international and domestic election observer groups, the facilitation provided to local and foreign media to ensure transparent news coverage, voter participation in the completed phases, and the use of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine in the voting process.

He further discussed advance voting arrangements both at home and abroad, changes to the electoral system, the systematic implementation of each stage of the electoral process in line with democratic standards, and ongoing preparations for the successful conduct of Phase III of the election, including arrangements for election observation.

In response, the Chairperson of the Belarusian Party congratulated Myanmar on the successful conduct of Phases I and II of the 2025 general election, describing them as free and fair. She also thanked the Union Election Commission for its comprehensive briefing on electoral matters and for the invitation to observe the elections. She noted that a delegation led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus had observed Phase I and expressed pleasure at being able to observe Phase III, scheduled for 25 January.

Subsequently, Mr Uladzimir Baravikou, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Myanmar, based in Hanoi, shared his observations and assessments from monitoring Phase I of the election, highlighting its systematic and transparent implementation in accordance with the law. The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts.

The meeting was attended by Yangon Region Election Subcommission Chairperson U Khin Maung Kyaw, officials from the Union Election Commission Office and the Yangon Region Election Subcommission Office, as well as responsible officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
