Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, a member of the State Security and Peace Commission, and Shan State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Colonel Sein Win visited the Shan State Development Supervision Office (Kengtung) in Kengtung Township, Shan State (East), on 6 December.
First, the
Regional Development Supervisor explained the regional development activities
being carried out, and the head of the District Department of Education and
Training presented information about the Border Area Ethnic Youth Development
Training School and the domestic vocational training school.
The Union
minister then coordinated as needed. He emphasized that development work in
border areas must focus on national unity and equal progress across all regions
and states, instructed employees to strictly adhere to civil service ethics and
cooperate with local communities in implementing development activities, and
also presented awards to employees while inspecting the 5,000-gallon brick tank
on the office premises, the staff housing, and the cleanliness and
beautification of the compound.
Next, the
Union minister visited the Vocational Training Centre for Women (Kengtung) to
inspect the training, dormitories, dining hall, kitchen, and library, and the
Training School for the Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas
(Kengtung) to inspect the students’ dormitories, dining hall, and sports field.
Afterwards,
he proceeded to the Training School for the Development of Nationalities Youth
from Border Areas in Loimwe and met with the staff, teachers, and students. He
instructed the students to study hard and learn the skills taught by teachers,
and urged the teachers to train the students in line with the school’s goals so
that they may become strong, capable civil servants and future leaders on whom
the country can rely. He also presented the students with cash awards.
Yesterday
morning, he inspected the construction works and the office premises at the
Mongphyat Township Development Supervision Office.
At the
Vocational Training Centre for Women in Tachilek, the Union minister met the
staff, instructors, and trainees, instructed the trainees to work hard to
master the subjects taught and to be able to start their own businesses,
presented cash awards, and inspected the school campus.
The Union
minister looked into the Tachilek District Development Supervision Office, the
road construction site at Loitawkham Village-tract, and the construction of
four box culverts.
