The 10th
Teacher Respect-paying Ceremony of No 1 Basic Education High School, Tatkon,
was held yesterday morning at Aung San Hall in Tatkon, Nay Pyi Taw.
The ceremony
was attended by the Chairman of the Working Committee on Information and
Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community Union Minister for
Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture
U Tin Oo Lwin, and a total of 189 former students, along with teachers aged 60
to 80 who taught at No 1 Basic Education High School, Tatkon.
First, the
former students paid homage to the teachers. Then, the chairman as well as the
secretary of the alumni association made speeches of appreciation.
Afterwards,
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin delivered
opening remarks.
Next, Union
Ministers U Maung Maung Ohn and U Tin Oo Lwin, and officials presented MRTV DTH
receivers, accessories and gifts to teachers aged 75 and above, and provided
exercise books and stationery to students. Then, the teachers delivered
speeches, and Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn gave 30 MRTV DTH receiver sets
to former students.
Tatkon BEHS
No 1 was opened as a primary school in 1946, upgraded to a middle school in
1952, and became a high school on 30 November 1957. Many talented students have
emerged from the school, with numerous graduates excelling in matriculation
exams. Currently, a total of 1,924 students are taught by 72 teachers. The
teacher respect-paying ceremony is held once every three years.
