The Tatmadaw naval vessel (Kyansittha) led by Captain Khun Aung Kyaw arrived back in Yangon yesterday after joining the 2nd ASEAN-US Maritime Exercise (2nd AUMX) hosted by Indonesia from 9 to 13 December.
The naval
vessel (Kyansittha) left Yangon on 3 December to join the 2nd ASEAN-US Maritime
Exercise, and arrived in Batam of Indonesia, on the morning of 9 December.
Between 9
and 11 December, the leader and members attended the opening ceremony, and
participated in negotiations for sea drills, table-top exercises, subject
matter expert exchange, fun games, dinner event and tour.
The 2nd AUMX
features a wide range of activities, including maritime manoeuvring drills,
formation sailing exercises, basic communications training using hand signals,
flags and light signals, ship damage control exercises, search and rescue
training, and offshore medical first aid drills.
The 2nd AUMX
saw participation by eight naval vessels and one helicopter from Myanmar,
Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, and the
United States, while representatives from four other ASEAN member states
attended as observers.
The naval
ship (Kyansittha) sailed a total of 2,700 nautical miles during the voyage and
successfully participated in the 2nd AUMX.
