Government to aid flood-damaged homes

 

The Senior General expressed that the first cash donation amounted to more than K32.2 billion and the second cash donation, more than K10 billion for rehabilitation measures in flood-affected areas.


Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed his thanks to all contributors for their cash donations to take relief and rehabilitation measures in the flood-stricken areas triggered by Typhoon Yagi.

At the second cash donation ceremony for flood-affected areas held at the city hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon, the Senior General accepted cash donations and spoke words of thanks.

Speaking on occasion, the Senior General said that the government pledged to fulfil the needs of damaged houses in flooding as much as it can.

He underlined that suitable crops should be planted in the arable lands damaged by the recent Typhoon Yagi.

He requested businesspersons to invest in agricultural tasks like capital to be delivered by the State, adding that all businesspersons have to consider rehabilitation of the livestock breeding sector.

The Senior General urged well-wishers to participate in education promotion plans for citizens as the government is striving for the soonest opening of schools in flood-inflicted areas.

At the ceremony, a video clip on harmonious participation in the rehabilitation of flood-impacted areas to overcome the challenges of natural disasters was presented.

The Senior General accepted cash donations from region and state governments and staff, as well as well-wishers at home and abroad, and returned certificates of honour.

Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Admiral Tin Aung San, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and General Nyo Saw accepted cash donations from region and state governments, staff, organizations and well-wishers and presented certificates of honour.

At the ceremony, well-wishers donated more than K10.5 billion for relief and rehabilitation measures to be taken in flood-hit regions.
