SUPERVISED by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, legal action is being taken nationwide against illicit trading.
On
24 June, teams under the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized
42 types of goods worth K6.985 million, including 444 bottles of Golden
Mountain brand oyster sauce without official documents, from house No 395 and
house No 475-A in Thaton. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On
the same day, combined teams managed by the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication
Task Force seized 45 bottles (each containing 18 litres) of Two Shrimps brand
palm oil valued at K2.925 million without official documents in Dagon East
District. Additionally, two trucks (valued at approximately K57 million)
travelling from Myawady to Yangon and from Mandalay to Yangon were intercepted
at the Ywathagyi Dry Port, carrying four types of goods worth K22.58 million,
including 250 sets of used bicycles from Japan. The action was also conducted
under Customs procedures.
On
25 June, a total of 8.374 tonnes of illegal timber valued at K1.138 million was
captured in Bago District, and action was taken under the Forest Law.
The
Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported seven arrests on 24 and
25 June, with an estimated value of K90.63 million.
