UNION Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Thet Thet Khine convened a meeting with officials from hotel and tourism associations and the Foreign Investment Hotel Operators Association at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon yesterday afternoon. The Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) president and representatives from related associations joined the gathering.
During the meeting, the Union minister stressed the government’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment and emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in the country’s development, particularly in the tourism sector. The discussions centred on facilitating visa relaxation for foreign tourists, enhancing financial transactions, and improving transport infrastructure. Additionally, plans were discussed to tap into key tourist markets in Russia, China, and India.
The Union minister also emphasized the need to prepare for tourism development in border regions and underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and entrepreneurs in innovatively promoting Myanmar’s tourism industry. The meeting concluded with officials presenting their experiences and plans for attracting Chinese and Russian tourists, followed by discussions on the challenges faced and potential solutions for the hotels and tourism sector.
