The YCDC’s (Yangon City Development Committee) Roads and Bridges Department conduced the double-layer paving of concrete on the approach road of Bayintnaung Bridge-1, which is the main trade gateway of Ayeyawady Region.
The
government paved concrete road on No 5 Road in Hlinethaya Township area in
2018, and now paves 300ft long concrete road between the approach road of
Bayintnaung Bridge-1 and No (532) infantry.
“The
operation started on 5 September. As the approach road section is lower than
the bridge and so it can affect the deck. Therefore, we paved another layer of
the concrete road up to 300ft in length. Now, we complete 50 per cent of
processes. We estimated to complete it on 18 September. The paving of concrete
road on No 5 Road ends near No (352) military command. Therefore, there are
about 1,500ft to be paved between that section and the currently paving
section. We have a plan to pave that section to connect with No 5 Road,” said a
responsible person of the department.
Of
the four bridges constructed over the Hline River, Bayintnaung Bridge-1 is the
first one and facilitates the trade flows between Yangon and Ayeyawady regions.
Due
to the high traffic, the surface of the bridge’s road collapses. The paving of
tar road completed on the Bayintnaung side while the double-layer paving of
concrete road on Hlinethaya side.
The
products from Ayeyawady are transported via Shwepyitha Bridge to Shwepyitha
Township of Yangon, Aung Zeya Bridge to Insein Township, Bayintnaung Bridge -1
and 2 to Bayintnaung Wholesale Centre and Fish Market in Mayangon Township.
Moreover, the industrial zones are concentrated in these areas. Therefore, the Ministry
of Construction and YCDC cooperate to ensure the strength of four bridges.
