A film analysis programme for the Plame D’or and Best Foreign Language
Film awards winning film “The Tin Drum” by director Volker Schlondorff
will be held at the movie theater, No.50, Golden Valley, at 22 December,
noon.
The programme aiming to
develop Myanmar films is happening 32nd time under the sub-category of
Cinematheque Programme and the management member of Film Development
Center Dr Aung Min will lead the discussion.
The film chosen for coming programme is a Drama film with the taste of erotic and surreal. The film won the Palme D’or award of Cannes Film Festival in 1979 and Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars 1980. In 1980, the film got its highest gross. The film “The Tin Drum” is a film adaption of a novel by Günter Grass and the director wrote the script with French scriptwriter Jean-Claude Carrirere.
The story is about a boy named Oskra who tried to stop the growing of his body on his 7th Birthday during the World War 2 period. He accidently knew the power of the tin drum and used the power of drum every time he was upset. However, in the end, he threw away the tin drum and decided to live normally.
