Mandalay Region sees more six-distinction winners than previous year

MATRICULATION exam results of 2018-2019 academic year were released nationwide yesterday. According to Regional Education Office, Mandalay Region produced most sic-distinction achievers.

Mandalay Regional Education Officer said that this year, a total of 119,210 students sat for the exam at 203 exam centers in Mandalay Region, out of which, 43,075 candidates, i.e 36.13% of the candidates, passed the exam. This is the second highest rate in the county, and with 220 outstanding students, the region saw the highest figure of six-distinction achievers.

He said “Comparing with last year result, the number of successful candidates decreases slightly this year. Even though this is the case, Mandalay Region produced most six-distinction achievers comparing to other region and state. This is thought to be improvement in quality”.

In a total of 6,920 distinction achievers, there are 220 six-distinction achievers, 490 five-distinction achievers,621 four-distinction achievers, 673 three-distinction achievers,1059 two-distinction achievers and 3,857 one-distinction achievers.

Among the candidates, 71 were from Mandalay Central Prison. Out of the 71, 41 passed and 11 were awarded one-distinction and 3 two-distinction.

A total of 111,398 candidates sat for the exam in Mandalay Region last year. 42,517 candidates, which is 38.17 %, pass the exam.

There were 289 six-distinction achievers, 640 five-distinction achievers, 1,134 four-distinction achievers,1,166 three-distinction achiever, 1,743 three-distinction achievers and 6,896 one-distinction achievers.
