MINGALAR Co. Ltd announced yesterday it will open a luxury multiplex on the 5th floor of the Kabaraye Executive Residence Shopping Mall on Kabaraye Pagoda Road, Mayangon Township, Yangon, on 9 May.
The cinema will become the 131st one and 151st screen of the country.
The Mingalar Cinemas Gold Class will have three auditoriums. Cinema 1 would accommodate 60 people, Cinema 2 would seat 29 people, while Cinema 3 would have a seating capacity of 33. They will have high-end and modern single and couple seats.
“This will be the 27th cineplex opened by the Mingalar Company and the 48th screen launched,” said U Myat Khine Soe of Mingalar Co. Ltd at a media event held at the shopping mall yesterday. U Ye Naing, the Director-General of the Information and Public Relations Department, members of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, and journalists attended the event. They also viewed sample 3D movies in Cinema 1. The Ministry of Information works ceaselessly to promote the film industry in Myanmar. From approving 9 films in 2014, MoI approved 158 in 2017, 133 in 2018 and 35 in 2019 as of now.
