Vice President U Henry Van Thio, wife take part in Mandalay Thingyan festivities






Vice President U Henry Van Thio and his wife, Dr. Shwe Hlwan, participated in the Myanmar traditional Thingyan Festival yesterday.

They were welcomed at the Mandalay City Maha Thingyan Pandal by the Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung and his wife, Dr. Yu Yu May.
The Vice President and his wife sprinkled scented water on Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Mandalay Region cabinet members, dance troupes, and guests, and gave New Year wishes.
Afterwards, they attended a performance by the dance troupes and a concert.
The Vice President and his wife also took part in the splash walk and greeted revellers enjoying the festival.
As part of the splash walk, Vice President U Henry Van Thio also visited the pandals of the National League for Democracy, the Mandalay Region Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and ethnic communities in Mandalay.
In the evening, the Vice President and his wife, accompanied by the Mandalay Region Chief Minister and members of the Mandalay Region Government, visited the Nan Myo Thu Pandal at the corner of the 26th and 71st streets and the pandal of the ethnic communities on the Manawraman grounds in Maha Aungmyay Township.
Afterwards, they visited the Village Thingyan Market Fair on the eastern part of the Mandalay moat.
