Tatmadaw columns capture AA training grounds, camps; seize munitions in Lakkhar Village

TATMADAW columns captured training grounds and camps of the AA group and also seized munitions belonging to the group last week, according to a statement from the military.

Local residents of Panmyaung Village and other villages in MraukU Township, Rakhine State, reported the locations of AA training grounds and camps in nearby ridges to Tatmadaw columns. Local residents reportedly said they were constantly subjected to threats and assaults by the AA, and sought assistance from the Tatmadaw as they wished to live in peace.
Tatmadaw columns searched the ridges near Panmyaung village and launched armed operations against the AA on 19 March. There were reportedly 20 battles between the two sides, which ended with the Tatmadaw capturing a temporary training ground of the AA at 2.35 p.m. on 13 April. AA troops stationed there were forced to flee in the southwest and northwest direction.
In another case, security forces cooperated according to standard procedures with village administration officials to conduct a search at Lakkhar village, MraukU Township, last week.
At 3 p.m. on 12 April, they discovered 3 cartridges, 203 bullets, and other related items in the compound of a house belonging to a man identified as Ko La Pyae. The security forces also found 10 grenades in the house of Ko La Pyae’s older brother, U Maung Oo, yesterday noon, according to the military release.
AA members who were reportedly threatening residents in different parts of MraukU Township were driven out, and their training grounds and camps were captured. Tatmadaw columns are continuing with security operations in the surrounding areas, according to news released by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
