Union Minister works on travel sector development in Shan State east

UNION MINISTER for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung arrived at Shan State south Kengtung Town and inspected the news and information counter opened by Directorate of Hotels and Tourism at Kengtung Airport on the morning of 14 April. The Union Minister remarked that as the ministry was using Digital Platform, arrangements were to be made to provide news and information using digital technology.

Next the Union Minister observed a ceremony conducted by Gon Shan nationals since more than 600 years ago and arranged for uploading of the ceremony using digital technology. Afterwards the Union Minister went to Loimwe Town to promote new tour itinerary, observed the local products produced, centenary colonial era buildings, Christian churches, Hindu temples and commented to officials on establishing new tour itineraries.
Later the Union Minister and party went to Kengtung Town, Amazing Keng Tong Hotel and met with hotel business persons, travel business persons, tour guides and officials from transports associations in the hotel hall.
The Union Minister explained about relaxing visa requirements to ease entry of foreign visitors, Digital Marketing conducted, travel business development matters and responded to questions and matters raised by business persons.
On the morning of 15 April the Union Minister arrived to Myanmar-Laos Friendship Bridge over Mekong River where departmental officials explained about works conducted and the Union Minister remarked on establishing bilateral tour and trilateral tour.
On the morning of 16 April the Union Minister went to Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge 1 to inspect entry and exit of travellers. At 10 a.m. the Union Minister met with hotel business persons, travel business persons, tour guides and officials from transport associations in the hall of Platinum Hotel. The Union Minister explained in detail about the numbers of visitors increasing this year when visa relaxation were made by the state after there was a slight drop in the numbers of visitors last year, conducting market development using Digital Platform system, ministry issuing travel business license to related states and regions and relaxation on transfer of rights.
Following the explanations of attending business persons on difficulties faced in Tachilek Town travel businesses and future works, the Union Minister responded to matters raised and coordinated with departments.
