Paritta Recitation Ceremony for 1381 ME held at Presidential Palace

 The Paritta Recitation Ceremony for the 1381 Myanmar Era was held at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. President U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi were present at the event to listen to the Paritta recitation.

 Sanghas led by Ovadacariya Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana Maha Withutayama Zaygon Monastery Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Dr. Bhaddanta Kavisara attended the ceremony and recited the Parittas.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, Vice President U Henry Van Thio and wife Dr. Shwe Hlwan, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat and wife, Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo, Chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Union U Myo Nyunt and wife, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein and wife, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Tun Tun Hein and wife, Amyotha Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Aye Tha Aung, Union Ministers, the Chairman of Peace Commission, the Chairman of the Union Civil Service Board, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and their wives, Chairman of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, the Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and their wives, Deputy Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, permanent secretaries, invited guests and other officials.

Before the ceremony, the President, First Lady and the State Counsellor put up offertories to the image of the Buddha in Ngushwewar Hall.

Following that, the President, First Lady, State Counsellor and the guests in attendance took the Nine Precepts from the Zaygon Sayadaw. The Sayadaw and Sanghas then recited the Parittas.

Next, the President, First Lady, the State Counsellor and the congregation donated offertories to the members of the Sangha.

The President, First Lady, the State Counsellor and the congregation then listened to Sermon from the Sayadaw and poured water to evince the act of maling the donations.

After the ceremony, President U Win Myint, First Lady Daw Cho Cho, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the congregation offered meals to the members of the Sangha.
