ACTING on an order from the
President’s office, the authorities yesterday released 210 prisoners from
prisons in Rakhine State.
Of the total prisoners, 116
inmates, including 109 men, 6 women, and one foreigner, were released from the
Sittway Prison; 39 inmates, including 35 men, three women, and one foreigner,
were released from the Buthidaung Prison; 31 men were freed from the Kyaukpyu
Prison; and, 24 prisoners, including 23 men and one woman, were released from
Thandwe Prison.
The freed inmates were welcomed by
their families and relatives.
