A government delegation travelled
to Wa Special Region no. 2 to attend their 30th anniversary on peace building.
They visited the Martyr’s Mausoleum and the Peace Monument in Peace
Commemoration Park in Pangsang, and the Mongkhan Bridge and the old
headquarters of the Burma Communist Party located between Pangsang and Mongkhan
on 16 April.
The delegation consisted of Union
Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe, Peace Commission
(PC) Vice-Chair U Thein Zaw, Shan State Minister for Security and Border
Affairs Colonel Hla Oo, Director-General of the Ministry of the Office of the
State Counsellor U Zaw Htay, and PC Advisor U Moe Zaw Oo.
In the evening, Union Minister U
Thein Swe and delegation attended the dinner reception hosted by U Pau Yu
Chang, Chairman of the United Wa State Party, and members.
The government representatives,
ethnic armed organizations and invited guests were treated to traditional Wa
music, dances and performances.
