Senior General Min Aung Hlaing,
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, received a delegation of ethnic armed
organisations who attended the third session of the Union Peace Conference-21st
Century Panglong at Bayint Naung Guest Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
The
meeting was attended by Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General
Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Tatmadaw officials, along with Retired
Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo, UWSA Chairman U Pauk Yuri, SSA (Wanghai) Chairman U Hsay
Htin, and NDAA (Mongla) Vice Chairman U San Pae, KIA Vice Chairman-2 S. Gwan
Maw.
During
the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said he is, “glad to exchange views
with ethnic races; everyone is needed to practise according to the democratic
norms because we are now marching toward a multi-party democracy system, all
are needed to work with heart and soul, the state is regarded as parents and
our Tatmadaw and ethnic armed organisations can be looked upon as
children. Thus it is needed to consult with brotherly spirits, and to build the
union based on democracy and federalism, through thick and thin.” Among the
topics discussed were the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and the peace
process.
Similarly,
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received
the Special Envoy of the Government of Japan and the Chairman of Nippon
Foundation Mr. Yohei Sasakawa at Bayint Naung Guest Hall in Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday evening. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the matters
regarding the status of holding the third session of the Union Peace
Conference-21st Century Panglong, signing the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement
(NCA), Japan’s assistance for the peace process of Myanmar, sharing experiences
of natural disaster management, and the Tatmadaw’s efforts in the peace
process.
