More than 80 houses built for ethnic people in Rakhine



With the donations from other parts of the country, 82 homes are being built for the displaced ethnic people of Rakhine State in the west of the country. Mingyi village in Maungtaw Township, which will host the displaced people, will get 45 homes being built under the donations of the people and the government of Sagaing Region in the northern part of the country and 37 homes, a school and a monastery being built with the funds provided by the people and the government of Kayin State in the southern part.


Yesterday, two cabinet members of the Kayin State government — Minister for Environmental Conservation, Forestry, Mineral Resources and Transport U Saw Pyi Tha and Minister for Bamar Ethnic Affairs U Teza Htut Hlaing Htwe and party visited the village.

Over 130 workers are constructing the buildings in two shifts daily.

The project started in November 2017 and will be completed this month end after the arrival of monsoon.
