All
inclusive participation in protecting and preserving the cultural heritage is
one of the objectives of the photo exhibition – The Bagan from the Heart.
The
exhibition also aims at domestically and internationally showcasing the grand
ancient edifices with their uniqueness in architectural designs and magnificent
artifacts along with the natural scenery, traditional festivals and social
lives of the Bagan ancient cultural zone.
Hailing
the efforts to put Bagan into the world heritage list of the UNESCO, the
exhibition was opened at National Museum in Yangon yesterday attended by
dignitaries including the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture,
diplomats, photographers, the media, social organizations, sponsors and locals.
After
the speeches by the Union Minister, a Yangon Region minister and the head of
UNESCO Yangon, a consultant of the global body explained the method of listing
in the world heritage list.
Co-sponsored
by Bagan branch of the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library,
Metta Moe Parahita group and Myanmar Photographers Association, the exhibition
continues till 15 May.
Organizers
hope that the exhibition will also arouse the spirit of cherishing and valuing
the ancient cultural heritage apart from reinforcing the efforts to put Bagan
into world heritage list.
