Some
300,000 tonnes more corn were exported this fiscal year (FY), compared with the
same period last FY, according to Myawady Daily.
Corn
exports are expected to reach 1.4 million tonnes, while some 1.3 million tonnes
of corn are exported to international buyers.
The
increase in exports is attributed to the high demand from China and Thailand.
China is the main market for Myanmar’s corn. It is also exported to Viet Nam,
Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Thailand. With high demand from
foreign countries, corn fetched the highest price in the market. —GNLM
