At
the invitation of the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces
Gen. Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a ceremony
to receive the Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Exalted Order of
the White Elephant by the Thai King in Thailand.
Commander-in-Chief
of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party went to the office
of the Thai Armed Forces and received a Guard of Honour, with Chief of Defence
Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen. Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan.
During
the ceremony, the Master of Ceremonies read the message presented from Deputy
Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon. Chief of Defence
Forces of
Royal
Thai Armed Force General Tarnchiyan Srisuwan conferred the title on Senior
General Min Aung Hlaing.
The
Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen. Tarnchaiyan
Srisuwan spoke words of honour and Senior General Min Aung Hlaing gave words of
thanks.
The
order of the Crown was established in 1869 by King Rama V and is awarded to
royalty, government employees and foreign dignitaries for their outstanding
services to Thailand.
Senior
General Min Aung Hlaing has received the award, the Knight Grand Cross (First
Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant in 2013.
This
award was established in 1869 by King Rama V and it has been awarded to the
King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni, the Earl Mountbatten of Burma, Queen
Victoria and United States Army general William Westmoreland.
