To
assess the quality of products of micro, small and medium enterprises
nationwide, region and state governments are urged to exhibit local products of
micro, small and medium enterprises-MSMEs products in respective regions.
“Following
the exhibitions in nine regions and states, Nay Pyi Taw will host the national
level exhibition,” said Vice President U Myint Swe, at the meeting No. 1/2018
of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Committee in Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday.
The
first MSMEs regional competition will be held in Mandalay Region from 23 to 25
February.
To
gain balanced growth, MSMEs are required to cooperate more with each other at
regional and national level, he said.
The
Vice President also urged the local authorities and small and medium
enterprises to formulate detailed schedules for target line, action line and
timeline for promoting their products.
In
accordance with the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for SME Development ASEAN SAP
SMED 2016-2025 plan, Myanmar is also working for growth of the country’s SMEs.
He
said the committee has to work hard with the central committee’s guidelines for
sustainable development of the 99 per cent of the SMEs across the country. He
said a holistic way of viewing is needed when addressing the challenges and
obstacles SMEs in Myanmar are facing so that solutions may be found. The Vice
President said an announcement was sent on 19 January to the Nay Pyi Taw
Council, the various regions and states, and self-administered Division and
zones to send feedback on forming their own local SME Development Agency. These
local agencies are urged to be formed with 7 to 11 members.
National
Socialization Seminar aiming to develop micro, small and medium enterprises
will be held in Myanmar at the end of 2018. Besides, Myanmar will host the
sixth ASEAN MSMEs committee meeting and related meetings in October 2018. The
meeting No. 1/2018 of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Committee
was attended by Union Minister for Industry U Khin Maung Cho, Union Minister
for Planning and Finance U Kyaw Win, Union Minister for Commerce Dr. Than
Myint, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Myo Aung, region and state chief
ministers and deputy ministers economists.
