A
Nay Pyi Taw diplomatic zone land policy coordination meeting was held yesterday
morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where State Counsellor DawAung San
SuuKyi delivered a speech.
Also
present at the meeting were Union Ministers U Kyaw Tint Swe, U Thant Sin Maung,
Dr. MyoTheinGyi, U Kyaw Win, U Win Khaing and U Kyaw Tin, Union
Attorney-General U TunTunOo, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr. MyoAung, Deputy
Minister Maj-Gen Aung Soe, Yangon City Mayor U MaungMaungSoe, Nay Pyi Taw
Council members, Permanent Secretaries and officials.
At
the meeting the State Counsellor said Nay Pyi Taw is where the Myanmar
government sits and as a capital city, policies were already set for foreign
embassies to move from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw. To ease the work of the
embassies, for their personnel to live conveniently and to concur to reasonable
matters requested by the embassies, these policies need to be reviewed in
apractical way. Ways and means need to be found to raise the communications,
transports, education and health services provided added the State Counsellor.
The
government has urged foreign embassies in Yangon to relocate to Nay Pyi Taw.
One-hundred and twenty plots of land have been reserved for this purpose.
Union
Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin and Nay Pyi Taw Council
Chairman Dr. MyoAung explained the plots in the Nay Pyi Taw diplomatic zone and
construction of the diplomatic zone.
Afterwards,
Union Ministers, the Union Attorney General and officials discussed policy
matters related to the plots in the Nay Pyi Taw diplomatic zone and
arrangements made for the earliest relocation of foreign embassies to Nay Pyi
Taw. The State Counsellor coordinated the discussions and raised questions on
some matters.
