State Counsellor attends ASEAN-India commemorative summit

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ASEAN leaders at the Presidential House in New Delhi yesterday.



At the meeting, the State Counsellor expressed Myanmar’s view on cooperation in Indo-ASEAN navigation and Myanmar’s cooperation agreements and ongoing efforts related to its navigation sector.
Following the meeting, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, together with the leaders of ASEAN countries and the Indian Prime Minister, visited Mughal Park.
In the evening, the State Counsellor and ASEAN leaders attended a ceremony to release 11 commemorative stamps, marking 25 years of Indo-ASEAN ties. The State Counsellor also held talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Presidential Palace of India, discussing boosting bilateral relations and cooperation.
Before the meeting, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the ASEAN leaders attended a luncheon hosted by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
At the luncheon, the Indian Prime Minister and ASEAN Chairman Lee Hsien Loong raised a toast together with the other leaders.
