New building for Suu Vocational Institute

The opening ceremony for a new building at Suu Vocational Institute was conducted by the education network of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in the school compound in Hlinethaya Township yesterday morning.

The ceremony began with a salute to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar’s flag and the singing of the national anthem. NLD Central Executive Committee secretariat member U Nyan Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, building donor Mr. Yukio Kagaya, computer donor Mr. Yoshiaki Banino and land donor Daw Lei Lei cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the new building of Suu Vocational Institute.
Next, NLD Central Executive Committee secretariat member U Nyan Win delivered a message of greeting and building donor Mr. Yukio Kagaya of Japan explained how the donation of the building came about.
Afterwards, a representative of MPT explained the reason computers were donated to A May Ein (Mother’s House) school and Yangon Region Chief Minister gave a speech of appreciation towards the donors and then inspected the newly opened building.
“This building was constructed in seven months. Now that the construction of the building is complete, training courses can be started. As per the guidance of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the training courses will be on vocational education. Courses on computers, English and Japanese are being started.
There is no minimum education requirement set for the courses, but due to the labour law, age is limited. Only those who are 17 years and above can attend the courses”, said Coordinator U Aung Lay Nwe @ Ko Nge of NLD education network.
With an aim to develop the country by raising the capability of youths, vocational sciences such as computer science, English, Korean, basic electrical, and basic mobile phone repair will be taught free of charge. There are plans to conduct Korean, Chinese and sewing courses later on, it is learnt.
The ceremony was attended by Hluttaw representatives, officials from the Embassy of Japan to Myanmar, donors and invited guests.
The land for the school building was donated by (U Aung Thein) and Daw Lei Lei family. —Zaw Gyi
