Cement
manufactured in Myanmar is starting to be exported to India as a result of
strong market conditions, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Although
Myanmar manufactures cement, Myanmar has to import cement from abroad to
satisfy local demand. The consumption of cement is so high in Myanmar that,
until recently, no surplus cement was available for export. Until now.
According
to Ministry of Commerce statistics, Myanmar imported cement weighing a total of
21,244 tons worth US$999,118 via sea routes from 12 to 18 November.
The
cement bags were imported 26 tons from Thailand and 21,218 tons from Malaysia.
Moreover, Myanmar has also imported cement weighing over 5,600 tons via border
trades from 11 to 17 November. According to the Ministry statistics, Myanmar
exported the cement weighing 150 tons worth US$0.010 million via Tamu-Moeyay
border trade from 10 to 15 November.
The
AAA brand cement made in Myanmar was sold as retail at the Nampharlon market in
Myanmar-India border trade and other stores in Tamu township. Then, AAA brand
cement penetrated the India market because of its good quality. The cement is
selling for Ks6000 per bag at the retail market at Tamu Township.
