As
part of efforts of the Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance,
Resettlement and Development in Rakhine- UEHRD in Rakhine, young people
launched their voluntary service in Buthidaung and Maungtaw, delivering aid to
the local people and carrying out survey for aid.
Supervised
by Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, a total of 75
volunteers including 40 youth volunteers from nationwide and 35 local
volunteers made a field trip to villages in Maungtaw and Buthidaung delivering
aid to the local people and collecting facts for future aid program.
Meanwhile,
another group including 38 volunteers led by U Thein Htut Swe Deputy Director
General of Relief and Resettlement Department also delivered aid to local
people and carrying out the survey at the villages of Inn Gyin Myaing, Wah
Khote Chaung, San Nyin Wai (ethnic), San Nyin Wai ( Khami), Kan Paing and Kha
Mway in Buthidaung Township.
“Young
people from different parts of the country requested to carry out voluntary
services in Rakhine on their own volition.
Therefore,
the union minister submitted the request to the State Counsellor. The
volunteers come to participate in the rehabilitation services in conflict
areas. Taking survey is only to know the current needs of the villages”, said U
Aung Kyaw Moe, Deputy Director General of Social Welfare Department.
The
aid delivered by the youths includes rice, two visses of cooking oil, potatoes,
onion, peas, 25 cans of fish, one packets of iodine salt and milk powder for
the children aged under two years to every household. The households with over
seven family members were provided double of those foods. The voluntary
services will last until 21 November reaching nearly 40 villages. —News Team
