Myanmar Lethwei
fighter Saw Nga Man will fight against Australian fighter Eddie Farrell at the
World Lethwei Championship (WLC), the third event of its kind that will take
place on 4 November at Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon.
Although Saw Nga
Man announced in October 2016 that he would retire from boxing, he participated
in a boxing ring event on 2 January, 2017, fighting and defeating a Muay Thai
Lethwei fighter. Saw Naga Man then assumed two roles, as a Letwei fighter and
coach, at his Shwe Phuu Lethwei Club and defeated another Muay Thai Lethwei
fighter and one Japanese fighter. Saw Nga Man is known as a boxer who is good
at defensive manouevres and strong in wrestling.
Eddie Farrell is
well known for his elbow fighting and as a boxer who never backs downward when
he fight. He fought against Myanmar Lethwei fighter Too Too at the World
Lethwei Championship (WLC 1), Great Beginning event that took place on 3 March
2017 at Mingaladon Event Zone. Farrell lost the match in a decision.
The World
Lethwei Championship, also known as WLC, is a Lethwei promotion based in
Yangon. It was launched in August 2015 by Zaykabar Company Vice-Chairman Zay
Thiha and investors.
It signed top
Lethwei fighters Tun Tun Min and Too Too to exclusive contracts. It also
offered exclusive contracts to Thway Thit Win Hlaing, Ye Tagon and Phoe Thaw
and signed international fighters including Eddie Farrell and Umar Semata.
The first WLC
event, titled WLC1: The Great Beginning, was held on 3 March at Mingaladon
Event Zone in Mingaladon Township, Yangon, Myanmar. The second WLC event,
titled WLC 2: Ancient Warriors, was held on 10 June at Thuwanna Stadium. Its
third event, titled WLC 3: Legendary Champion, will be held on 4 November.
