State Counsellor receives Norwegian Foreign Minister

State Counsellor Daw Aung Suu Kyi met with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Borge Brende yesterday morning in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on the peace process in Myanmar, strengthening of the democracy transition process and promoting bilateral relations.

At a press conference following the meeting, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi pledged to maintain good relations with Norway, expressing thanks to Norway for its assistance in Myanmar’s peace process and democratic transition.

The Norwegian Foreign Minister disclosed that Norway would sign Memorandum of Understanding with Myanmar during his visit concerning the fishery, agriculture and energy sectors.

At the meeting with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, they also discussed regional issues, global threats and progress in Rakhine State.
