State Counsellor
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) Chairman Rev.
Lalawk GyungHkawng at 10 a.m. at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre
in Nay Pyi Taw.
After the usual
exchange of greetings, KBC General Secretary Dr. Hkalam Samson explained
obstacles to, and opportunities for, peace in Kachin State. Attendees also
discussed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement and the challenge of internally
displaced persons in a cordial and friendly manner.
The State
Counsellor discussed the points raised and gave her comments after which she
gave concluding remarks.
After this, she
presented gifts of remembrance to the KBC Chairman and members of his
delegation.
After the
conclusion of the meeting the State Counsellor posed for photos with the KBC
Chairman and his delegation.
Other attendees
included Union Minister for the Ministry of the State Counsellor’s Office U
Kyaw Tint Swe, Peace Commission Chairman Dr. Tin Myo Win, the Union Minister
for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye and Deputy
Minister for the President’s Office U Min Thu.
