2nd Pyithu Hluttaw 5th regular session 25th day meeting held

Fifth regular session of the second Pyithu Hluttaw 25th day meeting was held yesterday morning, clarifying eight issues and confirming a report and a bill by the Hluttaw.

U Myint Wei of Gwa constituency questioned on when electricity will be distributed from 66/11 KVA (5) MVA sub-station that connects Athoke in Ayeyawady Region with Gwa in Rakhine State.

Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy Dr. Tun Naing said electricity was distributed on 30 June 2017 after the construction of the sub-station and the laying of the cable was completed. Locals complaint slightly delayed the work of laying cable across Ngawun River in Ngathaingchaung township, Ayeyawady Region but was completed after Ayeyawady Region government resolved the complaint.

Replying to a question by U Thein Tun of Thabaung constituency on the total acreage permitted by vacant, fallow and virgin land central management committee and central committee, status of collecting insurance fees from permitted persons and collection of land taxes after passing of the grace period, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw said to date, 5,380 individuals, companies and entities were granted permission for more than 2.33 million acres. Permissions were granted only after insurance fees are fully paid and thus insurance fees were fully collected said the Deputy Minister.

Arrangement is underway to collect land tax after grace period in FY 2017-2018 as per the Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands Management Law added the Deputy Minister.

Questions by U Than Soe of Thazi constituency, Daw Cho Cho of Ottwin constituency, U Oo Tun Win of Kyauktaw constituency, Daw Mi Kun Chan of Paung constituency, Daw Khin Saw Wei of Yathedaung constituency and U Thet Lwin @ U Paw Khin of Myingyan constituency were answered by Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy Dr. Tun Naing and Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw.

In the day’s meeting a Pyithu Hluttaw agriculture, livestock breeding and rural development committee report was discussed and approved and a decision made to approve the Oil and Petroleum Products Bill sent back by Amyotha Hluttaw with amendments.
