Hluttaw agree on signing the Agreement on Cooperation in Natural Disaster Early Warning and Mitigation between ASEAN and Russian Federation

THE 2nd Pyidaungsu Hluttaw approved an international agreement yesterday with ASEAN and Russia to work together to improve Myanmar’s disaster relief systems.

The Agreement on Cooperation in Natural Disaster Early Warning and Mitigation is an extension of previous agreements addressing political, security, education, economic and development between ASEAN and Russia, said U Bo Bo Oo, a representative from Sanchaung.

Other representatives who discussed the agreement included U Khin Cho of Hlaingbwe, U Myo Zaw Aung of Kawlin, U Kyaw Thiha of Mandalay region, Dr. San Shwe Win of Yekyi, U Whey Tin of Chin State, Daw Aye Aye Mu alious Shamie of Kalay, U Oo Tun Maung of Ponnagyun, Dr. Win Myint Chit of Bago region, Dr. Win Myint of Bago region, U Han Win Thein of Taninthayi, U Kyaw Min of Kamayut and U Zaw Thein of Wakema.

Hluttaw representatives also heard comments regarding an agreement between ASEAN and Korea for conservation. U Ohn Win, the Union minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation addressed hluttaw concerns about the Asian Forest Cooperation Organisation (AFoCO). Myanmar’s membership in AFoCO has resulted in a regional training school that began in 2014.

Myanmar is in the middle of Himalaya region, Indochina region and Malay Peninsula region. Myanmar is one of the world’s most bio-diverse nations, but its environment is under threat from global warming and human development.
