Enquiry on accusation of human rights abuses and action to be taken according to the law

1. The Myanmar government respects human rights and an enquiry will be conducted if there is any accusation of human rights abuses. The government is resolutely determined to take action against the perpetrator(s) according to existing laws, procedures and regulations, if the enquiry discovers human rights abuses.

2. A social media website posted a 17-minute long video file on 27 May 2017 showing 4 persons in civilian clothes being physically abused by personnel in military uniform. Some international human rights organisations also released news about it on 28 May 2017.

3. The occurrence is being investigated and if any abuses are discovered, action will be taken against the perpetrators according to existing laws, procedures and regulations.
