2017 Asia Media Summit continues in Qingdao, China

The 2017 Asia Media Summit continued yesterday at the Shangri-La Hotel in Qingdao, the People’s Republic of China.

The topic of discussion for the second day of the summit was “Media for No Poverty: Creating Public Awareness and Engagement.”

Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint participated in the discussions with Bangladesh Minister of Information Hasanul Haq Inu, Vice President of Ningxia Radio and TV Station Mr. Zhongqi Niu, Associate Professor of Taylor’s University Malaysia Dr. Ramachndran Ponnan and Undersecretary and Executive Director Mr. Joel Sy Egco of the Philippines’ Presidential Task Force on Media Security. The discussion was led by Mr. Sami Zeidan, Senior Presenter of Al Jazeera English.

After the summit, the Union Minister met with Deputy Minister Mr. Tong Gang from the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT) and discussed collaboration on the information sector, arranging expeditions for writers between the two countries and developing the literary culture.

The Union Minster next met with Deputy Chief Editor Ms. Li Pang from China Radio International and discussed collaboration in the telecommunications sector.

At afternoon, the Union Minister met with Bangladesh Minister of Information Hasanul Haq Inu and discussed establishing communications between the media of the two countries.

The summit was attended by more than 450 representatives from 48 countries and seven international organisations.
