Two men died and
three other men were injured while trying to make a landmine on 4th May,
according to the State Counsellor Office Information Committee yesterday.
The
explosion happened near the forest edge west of Thae Ni village in Buthidaung
Township. After the accident, local security forces carried out the area
clearance operation, and discovered materials used for improvised explosive
devices including some packs of mixture of gunpowder, sulphur and charcoal
powder, two pistons, a burnt shirt, ground sheets, blankets, and mosquito nets
were found in a two cleared lands.
The Security
forces are taking probe into the case. The incident is believed to be connected
with terrorist training to conduct violent attacks in the region.
