Offers to buy
Myanmar’s bamboo charcoal have been received from three foreign countries
including the United States, according to the Commerce Ministry.
Myanmar’s bamboo
charcoal is being marketed to penetrate the Japanese, American and Vietnamese
markets. Samples of the charcoal havealready been sent to those countries.
A kilo of bamboo
charcoal will sell for Ks1,500 on average. In early 2017, Japan, the United
States and Viet Nam have proposed to purchase Myanmar’s bamboo charcoal, said U
Win Myint, the director of the Trade Promotion Department under the Ministry of
Commerce.
Myanmar’s bamboo
charcoal was previously exported to Japan, but technical shortcomings led to
market fade in late 2013.
The bamboo
charcoal is utilised mostly in Japan and China as a fuel. Additionally, it is
also used to purify water and eliminate organic impurities and smells.
