Vice President attends Union Day committee meeting

January 30, 2017
U Myint Swe, Vice President and Chairman of the 70th Anniversary of the Union Day Convening Central Committee 2017, addressed the 3rd co-ordination meeting held at the Office of the President yesterday, where he asked the committee to resolve any remaining issues.

“The Central Committee has held meetings two times and made decisions, which have been implemented by the Management Committee. Now most of those tasks have been completed. In the present meeting, weaknesses and problems found in carrying out the tasks will be finally coordinated. The 70th Anniversary of the Union Day will be observed with the following national objectives — strengthening national consolidation, emergence of a federal democratic Union, development of the socio-economic lives of the people. Co-ordination works need to be done so that accommodations, health, security and excursion trips of the national cultural troupes can be smooth. It is also necessary to coordinate with security teams for representatives and national cultural troupes from States and Regions to arrive in safety. Security matters must be closely supervised in view of the current situations in the country. In performing security duties, it needs to be done politely and to do search procedures carefully. Those who attend the ceremony should co-operate with a sense of security.”
He added that conservation of food and thrifty allocation of funds should be observed.
“In making catering arrangements for representatives and guests, calculations need to be done so as to reduce the wastage of food and not to incur extra expenditures. For the successful celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Union Day, cooperation must be done and necessary matters are required to be reported to keep up with the times.”
Afterwards, Dr Myo Aung, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council and Chairman of the management committee of the 70th anniversary of the Union Day, clarified the status of the completed work and arrangements that still need to be done.
The chairmen and members of the sub-committees then submitted their reports respectively to the meeting. After the submissions, the Vice President made suggestions and made a closing speech.
