Ms
Yanghee Lee, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar,
met separately with Union ministers U Thein Swe, Lt General Sein Win, Lt
General Ye Aung, Dr Win Myat Aye and Dr Myo Thein Gyi at their respective
Ministries in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
In
meeting with U Thein Swe, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and
Population, Ms Yanghee Lee discussed migrant workers, legal actions between
employers and employees, cooperative activities between the Ministry and the International
Labour Organisation (ILO) and the releasing information on the census and
nationalisation in Rakhine State.
Ms
Yanghee Lee discussed conflicts and the peace process in Rakhine State, Kachin
State and Shan State, human rights, affairs of displaced people and clearance
work of planted bombs in meeting with Lt Gen Sein Win, Union Minister for
Defence.
In
meeting with Lt Gen Ye Aung, Union Minister for Border Affairs, humanitarian
aid to both Buddhist and Muslim communities in Maungtaw, Rakhine State,
displaced people in Kachin and Shan States, implementing peace process in the
country and human rights were discussed.
Ms
Yanghee Lee also discussed the importance of preparedness for natural disasters
and people’s participation for lessening the impact of disasters in meeting
with Dr Win Myat Aye, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and
Resettlement.
The
Education Ministry’s current activities for educational development in the
country, provision of subsidies to basic education schools in Rakhine State and
activities for increasing access to learning education were discussed in the
meeting with Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education.
