January 2, 2017
An improvised explosive device (IED) was found about three miles north of May Lwan village on Sunday afternoon in Minbya.

The explosive device was discovered when U Tun Aye Kyaw and tele-communications staff were clearing the lines to lay down underground cables beside Yangon-Sittwe road at about 2pm. The mine was 4 feet in length and joined to an iron pipe two inches in diameter and also with a 9V battery. It was driven into the ground with four 0.5” diameter iron rods. A security team deactivated the land mine.
