Investigation Commission on Maungtaw holds its meeting 2/2017

U Myint Swe, Vice President and Chairman of Investigation Commission on Maungtaw addressed the meeting 2/2017 held at the meeting hall of the Office of the President at 2 pm yesterday.

At the meeting, Vice President said, “Now meetings of the investigation commissions on Maungtaw had been held for 5 times. The commission formed on December 1 in 2016 held its first meeting on December 8, issuing a press release. The commission paid a visit to Maungtaw during December 11 and 13 and investigated in detail. On December 12, the second meeting was held in Maungtaw, issuing a press release for the second time. During the trip, the commission went to 11 villages and met with local villagers to enquire about the necessary matters. On December 26, the commission held its third meeting 3/2016 and discussed and re-assessed the facts on the previous investigations. On January 3, 2017, the interim report of the commission was released. On December 5, the commission held its meeting 1/2017, and went to Maungtaw on January 6 & 7 again.
In today’s meeting, necessary matters for the final report of the investigation commission need to be discussed in detail.”
Afterward, U Zaw Myint Pe, secretary of the investigation commission, clarified the situations concerning the completion of the final report.
In addition, Police Major General Zaw Win, a member of the investigation commission, explained the latest situation in Maungtaw, followed by discussions from commission members.
The Vice President made a closing address, instructing members over the discussions.
